SUICIDE PREVENTION FIRESIDE

Hope4Utah State Crisis Team
The loss of a student to suicide can negatively affect the culture of a school. Research has shown that immediate response by trained crisis team members can help reduce the impact of that loss. Unfortunately, many school districts in rural areas do not have the manpower to respond to a crisis.
The forty-one school districts in the state of Utah have organized a statewide volunteer crisis team made up of school counselors, psychologists, social workers, and community mental health specialists.
In support of this program, the Stake Presidency has invited Dr. Greg Hudnall, the Utah State Crisis Team Coordinator, to conduct a suicide prevention fireside on May 3rd at the Manila Stake Center starting at 7 pm. All stake members and interested parties ages 18 and above are invited to attend.

April 12th Relief Society Lesson

Teaching of the Presidents of the Church: Ezra Taft Benson
Jesus Christ, Our Savoir and Redeemer. Chapter 6.

Just in time for the Easter season we have a lesson from President Benson concerning the divinity of Jesus Christ.  In it President Benson states, "I cannot recall a time that I did not believe in Jesus Christ. It seems that the reality of His life, death, and resurrection has always been a part of me, I was reared in a home by faithful parents who earnestly believed in and testified of Christ, for which I am most grateful.

"As one of His latter-day witnesses, I testify that He lives today. He is a resurrected Being. He is our Savior, Our Lord, and very Son of God. I testify that He will come again as our glorified, resurrected Lord. That day is not far distant, To all who accept Him as Savior and Lord, His literal resurrection means that life does not end at death, for He promised: 'Because I live, ye shall live also.' (John 14:19)

Here are the main points that were made in the lesson:
  1. Because of His infinite love for us, Jesus Christ redeemed us from physical and spiritual death.
  2. Jesus Christ came forth from the tomb, and He lives today as a resurrected being.
  3. We must be valiant in our testimony of Jesus Christ.
  4. Faith in Jesus Christ consists of relying completely on Him and following His teachings.
  5. We are most blessed and joyful when we strive to be like Jesus Christ
As you contemplate point 2, think about the impact of the Savior's Resurrection. How does His Resurrection influence your life?
